The Pitch is Monday....

Well this week is the last week to work on our business pitch because it is on Monday. I think my group is ready because each of us knows all the aspects of our business because we have been working together the whole time. I'm worried because I get nervous when talking in front of other people...especially when it is something that I'm not 100% prepared for, like this because we don't know exactly what questions the sharks will ask.  We have a lot of our plan done, but its still not finished. We have decided to just forget about it today because we need to focus on our pitch and be as prepared as we can be for Monday! We are going 2nd on Monday and we are really happy about it because we aren't the first ones to go, but the sharks also will still have a lot of money that they can spend so they don't have to worry about not having enough money for us. I really hope that the sharks like our idea and invest in it because I really really don't feel like coming up with another part on our business plan because I honestly have 0 motivation and that would take forever. We only have 5 minutes to ask Mrs. Weser questions and that's scary because my group always asks a lot of questions. I just really want to get the pitch over with because after that I literally have nothing else to worry about.

Business Pitch Getting Closer!

This week we really worked hard on our Business Plan, but also started to really think about our "Shark Tank" pitch....which is really soon! I am a little bit worried about it just because I get nervous talking in front of people...but I think Emily, Danielle, and I will do good! We have been working really hard on our plan. We want to do really good! I hope that all of our hard work pays off. We thought that our service would be easy because we didn't have to make food or anything...but its ending up being also pretty hard to figure out, maybe harder than some food ideas or something similar. But we are this far so we can't really do anything about it now! I think that it'll work out though because it is a really good idea that would really work for restaurants in VA Beach...and when the business expands! We also did a module this week...it was kind of annoying because it took much longer than just our class time...and a I would have rather worked on our Business Plan than do the module because my group always actually works and I just want to get the Business Plan over with and be prepared for the pitch! I know my group is prepared knowledge wise because we all understand all aspects of our business because we all do the work and understand it! Thankfully no one in my group has missed a lot of they days that we work on the plan during class because us working together and talking everything out is why I think our group is so prepared. I feel bad because my group asks Mrs. Weser a lot of questions...but hopefully she doesn't mind! I'm excited to continue working and see the finished product of our Business Plan and I can't wait to be 100% prepared for the pitch!

Good Start to the Business Plan!

This week Emily, Danielle and I got a lot of work done! Our business is called QuickSand. It is a delivery service that partners with different food companies around the oceanfront in Virginia Beach and offers the service of delivering food to customers. This is not a normal delivery business, because with QuickSand, the food and/or beverage is delivered straight to the beach or designated area the customer requests. Anyone on the beach with a mobile device is able to have the QuickSand app. We will also have 4 kiosks along the boardwalk so that people can order their meals and have them delivered to the kiosk area at the time the customer selected they want their food. People will find information about our business and app by advertisements in hotels, by airplane banners, and radio commercial. We really think that this is a good business plan because from personal experience, having to pack up everything I have at the beach just to go get food, then come back to the beach is annoying! It would be awesome to have someone deliver me food and the only thing I would have to do is go on a app, or go to the boardwalk and order on a kiosk. It is a little overwhelming that we have so much to do for our business and that we have to think of every single small detail in order to have our business work. Hopefully it all works out and we can find everything we need. I'm excited about finishing this project but I don't want to present it in front of the class because I hate talking in front of people, especially people I don't know or people I'm not expecting.

Prom Week!

It was really hard to concentrate this week on school work because of senior skip day on Friday and prom on Saturday!!!! Sadly, a lot of teachers crammed work in and decided to overload their classes with tests on Thursday. Thankfully, we didn't have a test in business. This week Jean and I worked on our entrepreneurship project. The person that we had for our project was Walk Disney. We had to make a video that was at least 5 minutes in length. We were really worried about not making the time because if a group had a video under 5 minutes, the highest would get nothing above a C! Since Jean and I were worried about that, we made sure to do a lot of research and find interesting things about Walt Disney's life. When we started recording, we didn't realize how long our video actually was. The video was suppose to be between 5 to 10 minutes long, but Jean and I's video was 12 minutes! I hope that means that we did a lot of research and touched on all of the things that we needed to talk about for this project to get an A! I enjoyed this project, but the only hard thing was finding time to record since we didn't have much time in class. But thankfully Mrs. Weser gave us some time and we were able to finish! This week we also started our final project, creating a business plan. My group is Danielle, Emily and I. I'm really excited about this group because we did a project together before, and it turned out amazing! Our idea for our Business was really hard to come up with, but we finally found the perfect thing! We are really excited to start composing a business plan, but it is going to be stressful because there is not much time left in the school year, there is A LOT to do for this project, and being a senior graduating in a month is making it really really hard to concentrate on school work!

Marketing Project!

This week we really focused on our marketing project. I was in a group with Danielle and Emily. We chose to do our project on Chipotle. We had to make a survey for this project asking questions such as, your gender, if you live in a rural or urban area, you or your parents average income, age, education level, and also questions relating to Chipotle. From the people that took our survey, most were women who lived in rural areas that had graduated high school. We had to make 3 different kinds of adds for this project. A 30 second commercial and a newsletter were mandatory and then you had to do one more type of add. Our video is about 40 seconds long and focuses on the nutrition and quality of Chipotle's food. It even has a funny ending ;). Our newsletter add was based on Chipotle's phrase "Food with Integrity" and showed a few food options! Emily found the perfect website for our last add because it allowed us to make our own billboard using our own pictures and words. I enjoyed this project because I loved the group that I was in and it was interesting and fun to come up with creative adds! We are watching everyone's commercials in class tomorrow and also writing a refection paper on the subject. Since the school year is coming to a close soon...we have another project due next week!!!! This one is an entrepreneurship project and my partner is Jean! We chose to have Walt Disney. In this project we have to interview the person and ask questions about their life and about their business. This all has to be recorded and last NO shorter than 5 minutes, if you go shorter than that, there is no possible way to get an A or B. So I hope everyone makes their videos at least 5 minutes!

The Journaling Never Stops

Well last week I thought that the journaling got kinda hard, I was hoping that we were done...but no. Last week we had to fill out the general journal. This week we continued to learn about the general ledger and finally the trial balance form. Sadly...I didn't know what to do for the trial balance sheet because I wasn't in class when we learned what to do. We had a quiz on Friday and I still have so much to do. I am almost done with the general journal sheet. It makes me even more nervous because I wasn't in school to work on it Friday so I have to make it up on my own time. I hope that after school on Monday I can be either caught up or almost caught up. I really hope that the journaling part of class isn't on the midterm because it takes me forever to do just because I want to make sure everything is right. Thankfully after midterms there isn't that much school left for the seniors! I am so excited to see where everyone is going and to see what they want to do with the rest of their lives! It is a little sad that I will probably never see most of the people in my class again, but that's what reunions are for. Its getting harder and harder to pay attention in class because all I can think about is college. I really hope that after midterms the teachers realize that we only have a few weeks left and don't overload us with work. That's one thing the seniors last year told me...that the teachers tried to squish all the work they didn't give us in the 1st semester and the 2nd semester work into the few weeks that we have left...and it was really hard to keep up because there wasn't enough time. I'm really excited that the final for Business is a project because I'm really not going to want to sit down and take an exam. But the final will be kind of nerve wracking because we have to create something and present it in a Shark Tank type scenario.

This Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This week was finally a normal week. The main thing we did this week was journaling. At first it was really easy and I was excited to be doing it because it was going to be an easy A. But on Friday...sadly it got harder. I can still do it, but it's just harder than the first part of journaling that we did. We also took a quiz on Wednesday...I didn't do too well. I thought I understood everything but my quiz said otherwise. Thank God that Mrs. Weser didn't count the quiz because apparently a lot of people didn't do that good either. She said that it was just a gauge at how well everyone did...and apparently we needed a lot of work. We played monopoly for a couple days, at first I was dreading it because I don't like playing board games...but actually it wasn't that bad! I also was dreading even more keeping a journal of all of my transactions. But on the second day it was just so easy because all I had to do was keep track of everything I paid for or spent money on...so after a few transactions it got very repetitive and was easy! We also watched shark tank. I haven't seen it before this class...and I have learned to love it. Actually one of the inventions that we watched about. I got the college scholarships app. I still haven't used it yet...but I'm planning on setting it up soon! Next week we are doing something more with journaling...hopefully it won't be more complicated!
