Marketing Project!

This week we really focused on our marketing project. I was in a group with Danielle and Emily. We chose to do our project on Chipotle. We had to make a survey for this project asking questions such as, your gender, if you live in a rural or urban area, you or your parents average income, age, education level, and also questions relating to Chipotle. From the people that took our survey, most were women who lived in rural areas that had graduated high school. We had to make 3 different kinds of adds for this project. A 30 second commercial and a newsletter were mandatory and then you had to do one more type of add. Our video is about 40 seconds long and focuses on the nutrition and quality of Chipotle's food. It even has a funny ending ;). Our newsletter add was based on Chipotle's phrase "Food with Integrity" and showed a few food options! Emily found the perfect website for our last add because it allowed us to make our own billboard using our own pictures and words. I enjoyed this project because I loved the group that I was in and it was interesting and fun to come up with creative adds! We are watching everyone's commercials in class tomorrow and also writing a refection paper on the subject. Since the school year is coming to a close soon...we have another project due next week!!!! This one is an entrepreneurship project and my partner is Jean! We chose to have Walt Disney. In this project we have to interview the person and ask questions about their life and about their business. This all has to be recorded and last NO shorter than 5 minutes, if you go shorter than that, there is no possible way to get an A or B. So I hope everyone makes their videos at least 5 minutes!

The Journaling Never Stops

Well last week I thought that the journaling got kinda hard, I was hoping that we were done...but no. Last week we had to fill out the general journal. This week we continued to learn about the general ledger and finally the trial balance form. Sadly...I didn't know what to do for the trial balance sheet because I wasn't in class when we learned what to do. We had a quiz on Friday and I still have so much to do. I am almost done with the general journal sheet. It makes me even more nervous because I wasn't in school to work on it Friday so I have to make it up on my own time. I hope that after school on Monday I can be either caught up or almost caught up. I really hope that the journaling part of class isn't on the midterm because it takes me forever to do just because I want to make sure everything is right. Thankfully after midterms there isn't that much school left for the seniors! I am so excited to see where everyone is going and to see what they want to do with the rest of their lives! It is a little sad that I will probably never see most of the people in my class again, but that's what reunions are for. Its getting harder and harder to pay attention in class because all I can think about is college. I really hope that after midterms the teachers realize that we only have a few weeks left and don't overload us with work. That's one thing the seniors last year told me...that the teachers tried to squish all the work they didn't give us in the 1st semester and the 2nd semester work into the few weeks that we have left...and it was really hard to keep up because there wasn't enough time. I'm really excited that the final for Business is a project because I'm really not going to want to sit down and take an exam. But the final will be kind of nerve wracking because we have to create something and present it in a Shark Tank type scenario.

This Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This week was finally a normal week. The main thing we did this week was journaling. At first it was really easy and I was excited to be doing it because it was going to be an easy A. But on Friday...sadly it got harder. I can still do it, but it's just harder than the first part of journaling that we did. We also took a quiz on Wednesday...I didn't do too well. I thought I understood everything but my quiz said otherwise. Thank God that Mrs. Weser didn't count the quiz because apparently a lot of people didn't do that good either. She said that it was just a gauge at how well everyone did...and apparently we needed a lot of work. We played monopoly for a couple days, at first I was dreading it because I don't like playing board games...but actually it wasn't that bad! I also was dreading even more keeping a journal of all of my transactions. But on the second day it was just so easy because all I had to do was keep track of everything I paid for or spent money on...so after a few transactions it got very repetitive and was easy! We also watched shark tank. I haven't seen it before this class...and I have learned to love it. Actually one of the inventions that we watched about. I got the college scholarships app. I still haven't used it yet...but I'm planning on setting it up soon! Next week we are doing something more with journaling...hopefully it won't be more complicated!

Almost a full week of school!

This week was finally somewhat back to normal. We did have another snow scare...but it blew over..and we got out of school 2 hours early and started school 2 hours late the next day...I could get use to that!! But this week in Econ we took a quiz on everyone's business law presentations. Thankfully..the quiz was no where near as hard as the country quiz...and we even got to use our notes for five minutes...that was extremely helpful because there were a few questions I didn't know!  We also watched shark tank. I love that show now and find it so interesting and amusing to watch! I love seeing who gets a deal and who sadly doesn't. We also discussed the ford pinto case. There was a class discussion about it...and I hope I got a 100 because I talked as much as I couldn! I believe that ford should have gotten in more trouble for putting money before human lives.

Snow Week pt 2

This week in Business class, it was a little crazy. We finished watching peoples country presentations. I took notes on every persons Country...and when we took the quiz, I still did horrible! I didn't understand because I didn't talk during presentations and took notes...but oh well, it doesn't count as a quiz grade! Props to Veronica for remembering to wear forum...I think she should get extra points for remembering to wear it :P. We also started working on our Business Law project. I was with Emily (thank God because I love working with Emily). We didn't have that much time to work on the project, so I think for being kind of rushed and having pretty much no class time, I think we did pretty good! We had 2 more snow days this week! I am so glad that we do digital learning days, because I do not want to make these days up, not during spring break or any time! We had our whole class planned out in time slots...it was kind of intimidating because I like to do my work at my own pace, but it all worked out. We watched some videos, answered some questions, and overall business class was one of my favorite classes throughout the snow days. I hope that everyone has been working on their paper that is due Tuesday!!!!!! Its kind of scary because we are doing the paper without seeing the whole movie and learning the information not in class, but I know that everyone will do good because Mrs. Weser found a way to make the digital days awesome and actually teach us the information instead of giving us busy work.

SNOW WEEK!

Well... This week was very interesting. Thankfully PC has inclement weathers days and ways that we can do work on the days that we are out or school, or else we would be making up a lot. A lot of people complain about having to do the work, but I really don't understand why. I would rather do this everyday & never go to school again until graduation...but that's just me. I also like not having to get up at 5:30 and drive 30 minutes to school and sit there for 7 hours, when instead we could do this! But anyways, we had an interesting, kinda busy week. The quiz on Wednesday wasn't hard, but it was very long and I ran out of time without finishing :O. I never really like timed quizzes because I like to take my time, but its all good. I wrote my reflection for my groups donut business, and I am so happy to say that its over! Now I don't have to wake up super early and get to school earlier than should be allowed. I also don't have to worry about writing the reflection because I did it :D. We are working on a new project this week. My partner is Emily <3 and we have the subject of Employment Laws. Hopefully we get some time to work on it when we get into school, so Emily and I can sit down and focus on our work and knock it out! Hopefully we are back at school next week with no problems. I also hope that our business field trip can be rescheduled so I can use the resume I worked really hard on! I think it would be a really good experience for everyone in the class to go and talk to the many different businesses that are going to be there. Also if we end up not going...I hope we all get our $5 back. :P

Muffins in the Mornin'

This week we had our first test. Hopefully everyone did good! I think everyone had to have done good because it was a lot of review from the stuff we learned in econ! The most exciting thing that we did this week however, was when we got to create our own idea to make money. Emily is in my group again and I'm so happy <3 also Gavin is really cool as well, so glad hes in it too! But we came up with some awesome ideas, but the top two ideas were selling muffins in the morning. We were going to do cookies at first, but then we realized that since it was in the morning, no one would really want to buy cookies, so we decided to go with muffins (and 2 of the 4 days we are also selling doughnuts). We found really good prices for the food items that we are buying, so we plan to make awesome sales and hope that we can really make a good amount of money! Tomorrow is our sales pitch and I'm nervous, but excited at the same time. I'm excited to see the people that are coming to watch our class tomorrow and to see if they want to invest in our business and give us our $20 to start up our sales. I really hope that someone wants to give us our start up money, and we don't get rejected by all of the investors like we saw in one of the episodes of Fishtank today! But Mrs. Weser said that hasn't happened yet in her class, so I don't expect it to happen tomorrow!
